Based on responses I got to a question I posed to reddit, I came up with this bookmarklet below.
Drag it to your toolbar or whatever and when you come across a direct photo URL on flickr or facebook, it should take you back to either the flickr photo page or the facebook user profile (I can’t confirm this latter since I don’t have a facebook account).
If you have any information on tracing back picasa or tumblr photo URLs, please let me know!
